CHOREOGRAPHER-DANCER-PHOTOGRAPHER

"Art first came into my life as a source of self acceptance and self-discovery. A deeper connection with human experiences, allowing my inner voice to create a dialogue between body, mind and spirit. As a choreographer my approach towards any of my creations is to build works where other artists can connect with their inner voices, freeing their spirit, provoking a sense of self-discovery and embracing their human nature."

Gabriel Lorena was named one of the choreographers for the

2025 YAGP MARCELLA HYMOWITZ CREATIVE FELLOWSHIP.

Mr. Lorena has also created works for Kansas City Ballet's Main Company and Second Company, Boston Ballet II, Moving Arts featuring dancers from Cincinnati Ballet and Kansas City Ballet, BostonBallet@yourhome: The Gift, Miami City Ballet School,

Boston Ballet School and for companies around Brazil.

He refers to his movement as sign language, allowing dancers to access their inner voice reflecting their emotions and life experiences.

THE SHAPE OF LIFE

Inspired by the biblical idea that God is the potter and we are the clay,
my newest creation, The Shape of Life, reflects on personal events of life
that have shaped us into who we are today.
Questioning our nurture, our past, our present, and what lies ahead,
the piece dives into early recollections, evolving values, traumas and beliefs, emotions, love and loss, scars, successes and failures, life and death.
It is a search for self-discovery, freedom for expression, a path to healing, and communication, and a reminder of the inner strength art helps us uncover.
